Dorothy Mary Larson, 96, of Longview passed away July 30, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital. Dorothy was born May 13, 1921 in Mt. Angel, OR to Joseph and Rosalia Ebner (Back).
Dorothy graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing Academy in 1939 in Astoria and began her nursing career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Astoria. She moved to Longview in 1956.
Memberships include ILWU Local 21 Auxiliary, ARC, St. Rose Catholic Church, Longview Senior Center, Travel Club, and St. John’s Hospital Auxiliary. Dorothy worked tirelessly on behalf of mentally handicapped children & adults, and was active in ARC, and Special Olympics bowling. She was involved in YMCA Caravan of Homes for many years. Dorothy volunteered at St. John’s Hospital, receiving Volunteer of the Year in 1992, and Super Volunteer in 2003. She loved to garden and traveled extensively with the Senior Travel Club on many bus trips. She helped with bingo every Wednesday at the Senior Center in Longview for years. She was energetic and always had a smile on her face.
Dorothy and Benny A. Larson were married in Astoria, June 19, 1943. They were married for 63 years, until his death in 2007.
Survivors include son, Bill Larson of Longview; daughter Susan Lusk; granddaughter, Brenda Buckley (Shawn); grandson, Brian Lusk (Christine); 4 great grandsons, Connor, Cody, Caden Buckley, and Keaton Lusk; great granddaughter, Katelyn Lusk, all of Las Vegas, NV; brother Walter Ebner of Mt. Angel, OR; plus many nieces and nephews.
