Dolores Veile “Dee,” a longtime Longview resident, passed away peacefully on Aug. 19, 2018, at home in Spokane, WA, surrounded by her family. She was born in Balmorhea, TX, to Fred & Olive VanDeren in December 1930.
Her family moved to Longview in 1944. She graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1948 and attended Lower Columbia College, where she met her husband Percy. They were married in December 1949 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage before Percy preceded her in death in 2015. She and Percy owned Longview Auto Supply for many years until they sold the business in 1973. She worked for Weyerhaeuser Credit Union for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Maple Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. After retirement, she and Percy traveled the United States extensively and were very active members of the Washington State Airstream Trailer Club and spent the last 20 years wintering in the sunshine in Arizona. After Percy’s death, she moved to Spokane to be closer to family and spent many hours reading, enjoying an active life in the retirement community she lived in and especially enjoying and spending time with her family and cat “Murphy”.
She is survived by her son Mike Veile, her daughter Linda Swanson (Tom), granddaughter Annie Lochhead (Drew) and two great-grandsons Oden & Nels, all of Spokane. Her son Doug preceded her in death in 1991.
Private interment has taken place at Longview Memorial.
