Nov. 12, 1935 — Sept. 10, 2018
Darlene Joyce Derrick passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 10th at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.
She was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Longview, to William and Lillian Prather. Darlene married Ronald Damon Derrick on Feb. 27, 1953. She and Ronald were married for 61 years and had three children together: Mike, Steve, and Elaine.
Darlene was a homemaker in Castle Rock and loved spending time with her family and pets. When Ronald retired they moved to Kamiah, Idaho, and spent their winters in Quartzsite, Ariz. She moved back to Washington in 2012 and spent her final years with those she was closest with.
Darlene loved to be in the sunshine, playing cards, reading true crime novels, and shopping at local stores wherever she went. She was always surrounded by close family and friends.
Darlene is survived by her sons, Mike and Steve; six grandchildren, Heather (Brown) Bays, Beau Brown, Dustin Derrick, Angie (Derrick) Palmer, Damon Derrick, and Mac Derrick; and many great-grandchildren who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian; her father, William; her husband, Ronald; and her beloved daughter, Elaine Derrick.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests you hug your loved-ones, enjoy their company, and enjoy nature around you. A life well-lived is a precious gift, we are grateful Darlene shared hers with us.
