Corrine (Cory) Yvonne Mugaas

May 9, 1932—November 13, 2019

Corrine (Cory) Yvonne Mugaas (Pilon), 87, returned to her heavenly home on November 13, 2019 after a short illness. She died peacefully at Hospice surrounded by her loving husband and friends.

Cory is survived by her husband, Ed Mugaas, sister Laurie Sund (Anacortes, WA) and brother Terry Pilon (Tucson, AZ). She is preceded in death by her parents, Eva May and Corwin Pilon.

Cory was born on May 9, 1932 in Concrete, WA and later moved to Kelso, WA. She graduated from Kelso High School in 1950. After graduation she worked for the Bell Telephone Company for 33 years.

Cory was a generous and dedicated volunteer who devoted herself to many community organizations including the Kelso Highlander Festival, Cowlitz County Museum, Sons of Norway, Telephone Pioneers, and 911 Center; she donated many gallons of blood over her lifetime. She was an active and dedicated member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was chair of the Properties Committee, Kitchen Manager, Funeral Reception and Hospitality Coordinator, the Altar Society, FISH, sang in the church choir for years as a soloist., volunteered in the office weekly, and where ever else she was needed. She loved her church and church family and they loved her.

A Funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2200 Allen St., Kelso, is scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00am with recitation of the Rosary at 10:30am. Fathers Bryan Ochs and Sebastin Santhrose will officiate and a reception luncheon will follow. All are welcome to attend. Memorial contributions may be made to Longview Hospice.
