Cecil “George” Markley
April 5, 1950 — July 26, 2018
George Markley passed away peacefully into the arms of his savior Jesus Christ at Tacoma General Hospital on July 26, 2018, after many years suffering with heart disease.
He was born April 5, 1950, in St. Helens, Ore., to Floyd “Blackie” and Audrey VanDusen-Markley.
George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia Markley; their children, Lorianne Howe (Steve), Lacy Jane Markley, Rob Krakenberg (Whitney), Terrise Stotts and Tamatha Bidwell (John); his siblings, Hilda Floyd of Meridian, Idaho, and Roger Markley (Joann), and Jennette (Lee) Culkins, both of Longview; along with his nieces, Lynette Alapai (Ed), Toni Guffey (Jim), Cassandra Herriges (Tye), and Amy Markley-Strain (Brett); his nephews, Charles Floyd (Jessica), Tony Mansur (Tammy), and Joseph Markley; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren in Tacoma.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Audrey Markley; and three brothers, Josepha, Frank and Lloyd.
He enjoyed the peace and quiet of the outdoors and spent many weekends fishing or hunting with family and friends. He had a knack for telling hilarious stories and jokes, keeping every laughing wherever he went. George was one of a kind and had a unique sense of humor. The Lord will surely enjoy this loving, wonderful and funny guy. He had a strong faith in his loving God, and was confident of his salvation.
A graveside service is planned for 11:30 a.m. Aug. 20 at Green Mountain Cemetery, in Rainier. A reception will follow at his sister Jennette’s home. Directions will be handed out after the service. Please come to share your stories.
