April 24, 1929 — Nov. 22, 2018
Barbara was born April 24, 1929, to James and Katherine (Hall) Dixon. Raised in Lexington, she attended Kelso schools. While in high school, a handsome professional softball player named Ken White came through town while playing with the King and his Court, a four-man softball team. Soon after meeting, Barbara and Ken were married in September 1946, beginning what would be their 70 years of marriage. They lived briefly in Lexington, Grand Coulee, and Walla Walla before returning to Longview where they raised their family. Most recently, Barbara resided at Somerset Assisted Living.
Barbara and Ken owned Longview Tire Sales where she was the long-time office manager. She was a founding member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Longview Country Club. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved having all her family together. She especially enjoyed holidays, and had wonderful 4th of July parties in her backyard for many years.
Barbara is survived by two sons, Dan White (Janet) of East Wenatchee and David White (Debra) of Longview; two granddaughters, Leslie Wolek (Troy) of Mesa, Ariz., and Amanda Bedard (James) of Longview; a grandson, Mickey White (Susanna) of East Wenatchee; eight great-grandchildren, Heather Fitzjarrell (Robert), Brianna and Holly Wolek, Jazmine, Zoe, Dezmond, Izely, and Cassius White, and Carter Bedard; a great-great-grandson, Brayden Fitzjarrell; three nieces; and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken White; a sister, Virginia Hendrickson; and a niece, Hope (Hendrickson) Bulgin.
A private family service is planned with Dr. Jim Conrod officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1218, Longview, WA 98632.
