Anne Jordan Davis
Dec. 1, 1929 — July 9, 2018
Anne Jordan Davis, a former longtime resident and Longview business owner, passed away peacefully at her home in Sequim, Wash., on July 9, 2018.
Anne was born to Verna Lee Hoover Jordan and William Harrison Jordan in Bellingham, Wash., on Dec. 1, 1929. In 1947 she graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, Wash., and went onto the University of Oregon to study art. There she met William Chester Davis Jr., whom she wed on Sept. 30, 1950. Together Anne and Bill built a successful business known as Cowlitz Candy and Tobacco, Co., which they operated for 38 years before retiring in 1993.
Anne was involved in many community organizations and activities with a focus on children and education, including Longview PEO and the Seattle Children’s Hospital Guild. She also set up an endowment scholarship fund at Lower Columbia College to help deserving students pursue further education.
Her foremost love was her family, available at any time of day or night. She also enjoyed the times when her sister Jerrine Behrens came to stay after long overseas assignments. She and Bill traveled extensively loving the different cultures of the world. She was a stickler for etiquette, a trait much appreciated by her granddaughters. More recently she enjoyed the company of her new great-granddaughter and the community of Sequim.
Anne is survived by her sister, Jerrine Behrens of Port Angeles, Wash.; three children, Connie Dyberg (Mike) of Samish Island, Wash., Jeff Davis (Mindy) of Sequim, and Laura Schmucker (Eric) of Kingston, Wash.; two granddaughters, Taryn and Cailin; and her great-granddaughter, Daryn.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill on Jan. 24, 1995; her parents; and a sister, Barbara Schnorr on Oct. 9, 2012.
A memorial service was held at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sequim.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
