Longtime Longview residents James and Carolyn Sathre recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a getaway trip to the Inn at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon Coast — a gift from their children.

James Sathre and Carolyn Falotico met at a Lower Columbia College dance. They were married Oct. 30, 1965, and have lived in the same home on Poplar Way for the past 40 years. Jim retired as a boilermaker in the Portland Shipyard’s Layout Department. He attends the Church of Christ and Carolyn attends the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Sathres have five children, Thomas Sathre of Kelso, Joseph Sathre of Tucson, Ariz., Dan Sathre of Centralia, Wash., Maria Lawson of Cusick, Wash., and Ben Sathre of Longview. They have also been blessed with 15 grandchildren.
