Everett made it close. For Lower Columbia College, maybe too close for comfort. But the Red Devils withstood a fourth-quarter Trojans rally and are moving on in the NWAC Championships with a 66-56 victory Saturday in Everett. On Sunday, the Devils will play Walla Walla, which defeated Clackamas 74-63. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Drawing within one point late in the game, Everett came back from a 47-35 deficit at the end of the third quarter. But LCC was able to hold on, as Tywanna Abbott tallied 13 points and eight rebounds and Madison Lord chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds. LCC shot 22 of 67 (33 percent) from the field. But LCC shot just 1 of 16 from 3-point range.

Madison Hinrichs hauled in a team-high 10 rebounds for the Devils, who limited Everett to just 17-of-49 shooting (35 percent) and forced 30 turnovers. Kaehi-lele Roy and Carissa Cannon each picked up three steals for LCC, which led 31-25 at halftime. Kaitlin Lewis added four assists for the Devils.

Uju Chibuogwu scored 15 points to go with nine rebounds for Everett and Alexis Biggerstaff added 11 points in front of the home crowd.
