MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Patrick Wisdom doubled twice, scoring a couple of runs while also driving home two as the Memphis Redbirds topped the El Paso Chihuahuas 6-4 on Wednesday.

Nick Martini doubled and singled with two runs for Memphis.

Memphis started the scoring in the second inning when Wisdom hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Dakota Hudson.

After Memphis added two runs in the third, the Chihuahuas cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Tony Cruz and Nick Buss hit RBI singles.

The Redbirds later tacked on two runs in the sixth when Martini scored on a ground out and Jeremy Martinez hit an RBI single to secure the victory.

El Paso saw its comeback attempt come up short after Dusty Coleman hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to cut the Memphis lead to 6-4.

El Paso missed an additional scoring opportunity in the eighth, when Chase d'Arnaud hit into a forceout with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Memphis right-hander Hudson (3-1) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Chris Huffman (4-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed four runs and six hits over three innings. Josh Lucas pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for his 19th save of the season.

Travis Jankowski doubled and singled for the Chihuahuas.
