The Mt. St. Helens Motorcycle Club's "Speed Week" at Castle Rock Race Park will culminate in American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Grand National Championship racing on Saturday that includes some of the tour's top racers.

Aficionados will have a chance to rub elbows with former champions Joe Kopp and Jared Mees, current points leader Sammy Halbert and racing legend Chris Carr on Saturday during an open paddock session prior to the first heats of the AMA Grand National Championship.

Racing begins Thursday with an amateur session, continues with Pro Twins and Pro Singles on Friday and concludes Saturday with the Pro Championship event.

Tickets for Thursday night and Friday are $8 per day for general admission and $10 per day for a pit pass. Tickets for Saturday's main event can be purchased online ( or at the Race Park ticket booth through Friday night for $35 (general admission) or $45 (reserved), and will also be available on Saturday for $45/$55.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. tonight, with racing slated to begin at 7. Some of the local amateurs — who range in age from 6 to 53  include Dominic Cameron of Clatskanie, T.J. Welty of Castle Rock, Scott Hooper of Kelso, Jessica Cameron of Clatskanie, Jeremiah Cameron of Clatskanie, Gary Roller of Longview and Darrin Frye of Toledo.

Friday's schedule is identical to Thursday's. On Saturday, gates will open at 5 p.m., and spectators will have pit access from 5:30-6:30. Opening ceremonies follow at 7, with heats beginning at 7:30.
