RAL Girls Soccer Selfie Nov 4 2017

R.A. Long's girls soccer team poses for a selfie after earning a state playoff seed, the program's first since 2006, on November 4, 2017. Teresa Aloe, bottom left, guided the team to a 32-27 record over three seasons.

After three successful seasons, R.A. Long girls soccer coach Teresa Aloe is departing the program to spend more time with her family.

The Lumberjills improved from 10-9 in 2016 to a state playoff team with a 13-8 season record this season under Aloe's leadership. The team was anchored by Abbie Anderson and Maddie Reece, but Aloe was prideful of team unity.

She believed in the "strong 11," the team started and finished the most recent season with-- including freshman goalkeeper Maddie Barker, junior defender Greta Hanich and junior midfielder Kelsey Bern.

The Lumberjills were 3-12 in the season prior to Aloe's arrival, quickly improving to 9-10 in 2015 and 10-9 in 2016 during her first two seasons with the team.

This season's RAL earned earned the program's first state appearance since 2006. Aloe said that she'll miss the team, but needed to focus on family first.

"Coaching can take a toll and I always tell them to take care of family first," athletic director Trevor Person said.
