Kelso’s Jaret Rakoz carded a round of 79 to lead the Kelso Hilanders in the opening round of the Greater St. Helens 3A League Golf Championships on Monday in Vancouver.

Also making the cut for Kelso were Braxton Martin (81), Brycen Guttormsen (82), Spencer Davis (87), Ryan Parsons (94) and Caden Gardner (96). Missing the cut were Kelso’s Kaden Martin (98) and Trevor Hooper (101).

The tournament concludes today.

Woodland 195, Washougal 199: Shaun Sadlier carded a medal round of 43 to lift the Beavers to a Greater St. Helens 2A League victory at Orchard Hills on Monday in Washougal.

Also for Woodland, Gage Pilot had 44, McCartney Bridges 51, and Cameron Hill 57.

Seton Catholic 173, Kalama 188: Kalama’s Hayden Johnson carded a 40 in a Southwest 1A/2B League match in Woodland on Monday at the Lewis River Golf Course.


Kalama 2, Toledo 0: Melanie Martinez and Emily Mickelson each netted a goal in a Central 2B League match at Ted Hippi Stadium on Monday in Toledo.

Also for the Chinooks (8-3, 7-2 league), Lily Given had an assist, Mary Morrell notched the shutout in goal, and Ruby Jackson was praised for her overall play.

On Wednesday, Kalama hosts Napavine, and Toledo (4-7, 2-7 league) entertains Life Christian.

Portland Christian 2, Rainier 1: The Columbians came out on the wrong end of an Oregon District 1 match on Monday in Rainier. The Columbians are now 1-6, 1-3 in league.

Riverdale 6, Clatskanie 0: The Tigers were shutout in an Oregon District 1 match on Monday in Portland. Clatskanie is now 4-5, 1-4 in league.


Rainier 3, De La Salle 0: Breana Howell hammered 12 kills and Kyla Howell added five as the Columbians swept a Lewis and Clark League match on Monday in Portland.

Set scores for Rainier (12-2, 9-0 league) were 25-11, 25-7, 25-10. Also for the Columbians, Taleah King served seven aces, and Kylee McGlone and Mikayla Lorentson had seven digs apiece.

Rainier hosts Warrenton on Thursday.

Oregon Episcopal 3, Clatskanie 0: The Tigers were swept 25-11, 25-12, 25-15 in a Lewis and Clark League match on Monday in Portland. Clatskanie is now 3-12, 1-7 in league.


Mark Morris 3, R.A. Long 3: The Monarchs won the match on games (46-45) in a Greater St. Helens 2A League contest on Monday at RAL.

MM swept the doubles, with Ben Haukaas and Gabe Slind winning first doubles 6-3, 6-1; Tino Cemulini and Jaden King in second doubles 61, 6-2; and Eric Chen and Owen Johnson in third doubles 6-1, 6-1.

RAL swept the singles, with Erik Grimes (6-0, 6-0), Chris Ofstun (6-3, 6-4), and Daylen Box (6-2, 6-1).
