Union 34, Castle Rock 33: The match ended in a 33-33 draw, but the Titans won on criteria in a nonleague bout at LeBaron Court on Friday in Castle Rock.

Union is coached by ex-Castle Rock standout John Godinho, the brother of Rockets’ coach Joe Godinho.

“The criteria is based on most pins, defaults or forfeits,” CR coach Joe Godinho said. “They won three matches with pins and claimed a forfeit, and we had two pins and got a forfeit.”

Kaleb Nelson (120 pounds) and Alex Langdon (138) won matches by fall, with JoJo Saringan claiming a 13-1 technical fall at 126, and Talib Meeks taking a 19-2 tech fall at 220. Kaleb Carroll won 6-0 at 113, while Austin Darvell claimed a 5-0 decision at 182.

“The match started at 113 pounds and we got off to a 25-0 lead,” Godinho said. “The guys fought really hard to keep the match close. It was a good day to wrestle, and the crowd got a good show.”

The Rockets are idle until they travel to the Royal City Tournament on Dec. 30.
