Last week you gave Willow Grove a "Thumbs Up" in your editorial — I agree. All the improvements are wonderful and more to come.

My family has used Willow Grove for years for picnics, relaxation, church, family reunions and winter barbecues. One or two Saturdays a month, all year long, there are from three to 30 of us — friends, family or church members, watching ships, birds, sea lions, people and sharing food, friendship and the Good News.

Even before all the improvements, a lot of people enjoyed the park and most respected the rules. This past year we have noticed people who bring their dogs to Willow Grove and just turn them loose. I'm not talking about those that jog or walk with their dogs, picking up after them. These people will park their cars, open their doors and the dogs run free.

We have had these dogs head right up to our picnic table for food. They leave their piles all over the park, and the owner is still back in the car, no worries. We've seen dog fights, and I had a small dog grab my pants leg as I tried to enter the restroom. "He was only protecting me," the owner said as she came out of the potty.

With the new play area, there are a lot more little kids running around. I've seen some of these children have to stop, remove their shoes for their parents to clean them before getting into their car.

I talked to the park host about all the dogs running loose and there was a leash law in the park, he said he didn't have the time of keep track of who owned which dog.

Will there really be a dog park, one that keeps the dogs enclosed so that the rest of the park is safe and sanitary for everyone else? Thanks.
