The Lewis County Coroner’s office has released the names of the two brothers involved in Sunday’s fatal shooting in Winlock.
Jeffry C. Wachter, 59, of Malone, Wash. was identified as the man who allegedly shot his brother, Paul Wachter, 56, of Winlock, before shooting and killing himself.
The coroner ruled that Jeffry Wachter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His brother died from multiple gunshot wounds to his head, torso and left arm in what was ruled a homicide, according to a Lewis County Coroner’s office press release.
On Sunday the two brothers got into an argument as emergency officials were attempting to rescue their sister who had fallen 50 feet into a well on the 600 block of Tennessee Road near Winlock.
Jeffery Wachter left the scene after being asked to leave by deputies, but then later returned and reportedly shot his brother before fatally shooting himself, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s office.
Their sister, whose name is not being released, suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she fell while trying to drop chlorine in the well. She was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital Sunday.
