Authorities identified the 22-year-old man who drowned Saturday in Yale Lake as Stephen W. Rilea of Vancouver.

Rilea was at the Beaver Bay Campground with a few friends Saturday when he attempted to swim cross the lake at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Cowlitz County spokesman Charlie Rosenzweig said Sunday. He swam about 50 feet away from the shore and went under but did not come back up after four minutes, according to initial dispatch reports.

Divers from the Cowlitz, Clark and Skamania search and rescue teams found Rilea shortly before noon Sunday, Rosenzweig said. Rilea’s family has been notified.

The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office is investigating the cause of death.
