The 36th annual downtown Longview Christmas parade and Civic Circle tree lighting will occur this Saturday, and the Kelso tree lighting will takes place Friday.

The “Home for the Holidays” parade and tree lighting are organized by the Cowlitz PUD, Longview Downtowners and the Kelso Longview Chamber of Commerce. The parade, which last year included about 100 floats, begins at 5 p.m. at Commerce Avenue and Florida Street and ends around 6:30 p.m. at Civic Circle, where Santa will light the Christmas tree.

Altrusa will serve free hot chocolate at the Civic Circle.

Kelso Mayor David Futcher will light the Christmas tree atop of the Kelso Train Depot clock tower on Dec. 2.

There will be fun for the whole family, including games and prizes, crafts, face painting, a hayride and cookie decorating. Santa Claus also will make an appearance.

The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Kelso Train Depot. Futcher will light the tree at 6:10 p.m.
