One person died in a three-car wreck that occurred east of Castle Rock on Spirit Lake Memorial Highway late Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 4:15 p.m. and was still blocking the eastbound lane as of 8:30 p.m., according to Washington State Patrol dispatchers.

A tow truck was on the way, and the closed lane was expected to be reopened shortly, according to the dispatchers.

Troopers were still on the site investigating the accident, which took place at mile post 2.5, roughly the area near the intersections of Schaffran or Estes roads.

Further details were unavailable before press time Tuesday night.
