The subcommittee meeting of the Longview Facilities Planning Committee scheduled for Thursday (Jan. 24) is a working meeting and not open to the public, said Longview School District spokeswoman Sandy Catt. She said the 10-member subcommittee will be preparing a draft for the future of the district’s buildings, not making policy, and therefore the meeting is not subject to the state Open Meetings Act.

Superintendent Suzanne Cusick said the district wants the full 48-member volunteer committee to get details of the subcommittee’s plan before making them public. The subcommittee is expected to recommend merging Longview’s two high schools into one campus.

The Feb. 7 full committee meeting is open to the public. It will be held at 7 p.m. in the district board room.
