A Kelso man who admitting to having sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation Thursday in Cowlitz Superior Court.
Corby Ainslie, now 18, admitted to having two sexual encounters with the girl, according to court documents. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree rape of a child. He pleaded guilty Jan. 11 to a reduced charge of third-degree rape of a child.
Ainslie said the encounters occurred when he was 17. Under state law, they were considered rape because there was more than a three-year age difference between him and the girl.
Ainslie's standard sentencing range was 26 to 34 months in prison. Judge Stephen Warning imposed terms of a plea agreement calling for six months in jail and three years of probation. That decision was based on Ainslie's age at the time of the offense. The plea agreement noted “the victim was an active participant in the events.”
