A Kelso man is accused of stealing more than $1,200 worth of radio-controlled cars and airplanes from a local hobby store.

Sean Ray Porter, 43, was arrested Friday after police searched his residence as part of an investigation into three burglaries at the Hooked Hobby & RC store in Kelso. The burglaries range from Oct. 27 to Nov. 8, and all involved missing remote controlled cars, planes or accessories missing.

Police were lead to Porter by a customer who came into the store saying he had information about the thefts and that someone named “Rocky” was trying to sell some of them, according to court documents. Shown a photo array, the man identified “Rocky” as Porter.

A search of Porter’s house found numerous model planes and accessories that were identified as some of the stolen merchandise. Porter, after his arrest, admitted knowing some of the planes in his residence were stolen, according to court documents.

Porter was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on suspicion of trafficking in stolen property and possession of stolen property.

Didn't know there was a new hobby store in the area. Will check them out next time I drive through. Hope their prices are decent though, too many hobby shops make the mistake of not having prices that can compete with the online shops or Amazon.com.

It appears fhat Porter was out on bail after stealing 60K worth of wire when he committed these burglaries. I cannot understand why the court would allow him to bail out on that charge when it's clear that he is an extreme threat to the community. He did mot simply strip wires from a vacant house, he took lines that control traffic signals. Any time these zombies risk people's lives, the prosecution should be swift and actually effective. Lock this tweeker up for 15 years.
