An episode of a Food Network program filmed at the Three Rivers Mall in Kelso will air March 30, network officials announced Thursday.
The hour-long “Food Court Wars” will air at 8 p.m. Pacific time. It features two teams of Portland-based restaurateurs competing for a chance to operate a shop in the mall for one year, rent-free.
A camera crew and host Tyler Florence were in Kelso for three days in January filming the two teams at the mall. One couple owns a waffle-themed food truck and is hoping to expand their business to support their family. The other is a pair of culinary school friends who served pressed sandwiches.
The teams were judged by a group of local tasters and by total sales in a day. The winners will be announced at the end of the program.
The Food Network airs on channel 66 in the Longview-Kelso area.
The show’s executive producer is Gordon Ramsay, who was in Longview last summer filming an episode of “Hotel Hell” featuring the Monticello Hotel.
The Three Rivers Mall now has only one food shop, Cool Scoops, and tenants say they hope the exposure and a new business will help boost foot traffic.
