The Fiesta Bonita Mexican restaurant in Kelso was burglarized early Monday morning, and about $200 in cash vanished from the bar cash register, according to Kelso police.
The police report states that the burglary alarm at the restaurant — which is in the Three Rivers Mall parking lot — went off just after 3 a.m. When police arrived, they noticed the west side door to the bar entrance had been pried open.
Officers searched the building and could not find a suspect, but did find the till drawer from the bar's cash register on the floor, with change scattered around it, the report stated.
Then, a Fiesta Bonita employee arrived and said the till should have been moved to the locked office area at the end of the night, and other employees must have forgotten to do so, the report said. The report noted that nothing else in the restaurant appeared to be missing or damaged.
The employee said although he did not have access to the camera surveillance that should have caught the suspect on video, his day shift manager would review the footage later that day.
