Just one day remains for students and community members to drop off donations for the annual Civil War Food Drive, a philanthropic competition between R.A. Long and Mark Morris high schools.
Longview residents are encouraged to drop off nonperishable goods at either high school or the Fred Meyer at 3184 Ocean Beach Highway by Friday. Requested items include canned beans, corn, peas, tuna and meats, peanut butter, soup, pasta, oatmeal and other items such as baby food, diapers and toiletries. Donations go to Lower Columbia CAP's Help Warehouse.
This year's drive will culminate on Saturday morning with Walk and Knock, during which students go door to door to collect paper bags with food donations. Residents should have their bags ready before the collection, which takes place between 10 a.m. and noon.
Tune into The Roundup, TDN's podcast, to hear more from students and leadership faculty Travis Ruhter and Josh Donaldson, who will cover everything from spray tan incentives to how the drive go its "combative" name.
