A fire damaged part of the Stowe-Woodward plant in Kelso early Tuesday morning.

Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue crews arrived at 1:35 a.m. and found smoke coming from all the roof vents and moderate smoke throughout the 30,000-square-foot building, according to a Cowlitz 2 press release.

The fire was confined to the southwest portion of the building near specialized operating equipment. Cowlitz 2 officials said the probable case was an electrical problem. Damage estimates were unavailable Tuesday.

Stowe-Woodward, located at 2209 Talley Way, rebuilds and recovers rollers for paper machines.

Longview and Kalama firefighters also responded.
