Lower Columbia College music groups will be busy in coming weeks, with four performances in the Wollenberg Auditorium.
The LCC Symphonic band, directed by Rob Davis, will present a blend of traditional and recent music for concert band at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The program ranges from Holst’s “First Suite for Military Band” to Morten Lauridsen’s soaring “O Magnum Mysterium” and Frank Ticheli’s epic “Angels in the Architecture.”
Davis will also direct the LCC Jazz Ensemble, which will play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The concert will feature the Michael Paul Sextet, vocalist Raeann Phillips and the LCC Bella Voce choir, and will include a wide range of big band tunes.
At 7:30 p.m. June 7, LCC choirs will present a musical revue called “Let’s Go to the Movies.” The concert will include music from such musicals as “Les Miserables,” “Chicago,” “My Fair Lady,” the Beatles’ “Across the Universe” and “O Brother Where Art Thou.” The concert directed by Gina Osborn will feature more than 20 soloists.
Tickets for each of the above three concerts will cost $8 for adults and $7 for seniors and non-LCC students. There’s no charge for LCC employees and students.
Osborn will also direct “A Night at the Opera” at 7:30 p.m. June 13. The evening will include arias from such operas as “Don Giovanni,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” “The Magic Flute” and “The Tales of the Hoffmann.”
Admission to the Night at the Opera concert is free.
