March 3: Mazama Ridge Snowshoe (moderate, snowshoe); drive 21 miles round trip, snowshoe 7 miles round trip with 1,700 foot elevation gain; open alpine meadows and great view of Mount Rainier; George W: 360-562-0001.
March 7: Tualatin Hills Nature Park (easy); drive 110 miles round trip, hike 4.5 miles on a level path through some scenic wetlands; Bruce: 360-425-0256.
March 10: Kings Mountain (strenuous); drive 180 miles round trip; hike 10.8 miles with 2,500 feet elevation gain through a thick forest of alder and ferns in the Tillamook State Forest (Oregon Coast Range) to the high point on Kings Mountain; Bill D.: 503-260-6712.
March 12: Mosier Twin Tunnels (easy); drive 190 miles round trip, hike 6-8 miles round trip on paved trail with little elevation gain; great views of Columbia River and (hopefully) wildflowers; bring a lunch for a picnic at the trailhead afterward; Pat D.: 360-295-0570.
March 21: Lake Sacajawea (easy); walk around the entire lake (3-plus miles) or walk half the lake (1-plus miles); Trudy and Ed: 360-414-1160.
March 28: Willapa Hills Trail (easy); drive 90 miles round trip; hike 3 to 8 miles on gravel portion of Willapa Hills Trail from Adna Trailhead to the west; Discover Pass required; Mary H.: 360-577-6676.
April 3: Steigerwald Lake Nature Trail (easy); drive 110 miles round trip, hike 3-mile loop with 39 feet elevation gain (with an option to extend to 5 miles); gravel path with great views of many bird species and other wildlife; Marcia: 360-846-7827 and Pat D.: 360-259-7827.
