Jan. 13: Hummocks Loop (snowshoe, easy/moderate); drive 120 miles round trip, snowshoe 5 miles with 500 foot elevation gain; nice way to try snowshoeing if a novice or enjoy the day if an expert; George W. 360-562-0001.
Jan. 17: Lake Sacajawea (easy); walk around the whole lake (3-plus miles) or walk half the lake (1-plus miles) with little elevation gain; Trudy and Ed: 360-414-1160.
Jan. 20: Marquam Loop Trail (moderate); drive 100 miles round trip from Terwilliger Boulevard trailhead, hike 5 miles with 950-foot elevation gain through Portland’s third largest nature park; Bruce: 360-425-0256.
Jan. 31: Fort Stevens State park (easy); drive 140 miles round trip, hike 4.5 mile loop on level paths through old-growth Spruce and Hemlock forest; Bruce: 360-425-0256.
