Reports of sport angler checks from the past week and related information provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Columbia River sturgeon: From Buoy 10 to the Wauna power lines, retention of white sturgeon is closed for the rest of the year.

From the Wauna powerlines to Bonneville Dam, retention will resume Thursdays through Saturdays Oct. 20-Dec. 31. In both areas, catch-and-release fishing allowed on days when retention is prohibited.

Columbia River salmonids: From the Rocky Point/Tongue Point line to Bonneville Dam, during the first 3 days of September, 1,099 salmonid anglers (including 342 boats) had 279 adult and 24 jack fall chinook, 12 steelhead and 6 adult coho. Salmonid boat effort really ramped up over the holiday weekend with over 1,800 boats counted during last Saturday’s effort flight count.

Buoy 10: Coho are catches are improving. Closed for fall chinook retention until Oct. 1.

Cowlitz River: 41 bank anglers had 5 chinook adults, and 32 boat anglers had 3 chinook and 10 steelhead. For current river flow information, call (888) 502-8690.

Kalama River: 7 bank anglers with no fish.

PacifiCorp recording: For levels of the Lewis River reservoirs, call (800) 547-1501.
