Several classes for children and adults are offered through The Broadway Gallery, 1418 Commerce Ave., Longview.
Supply lists are available at the front desk of the gallery.
Art scholarships are available for students 7 to 18 years old who are interested in art classes and who are otherwise unable to afford the classes. Forms are available at the gallery or by emailing Susan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Painting for Fun: 1-3 p.m. (adults) or 3:30-5 p.m. (children) Wednesdays; ages 12 through adult; students paint what they want with guidance; students may bring regular oil paints, but are asked to clean their brushes at home; instructor Susy Halverson; a canvas, up to 18-by-24 inches supplied for all students; 1-7 students per class (all skill levels welcome); $15 per day if use instructor Susy Halverson's supplies; $12 per day if use own supplies.
Spring Fever Painting Party: 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 3; age 21 and older, all levels of experience welcome; paint spring flowers; develop the background and select flowers to paint; learn about composition and adding depth to painting; 5-8 students; instructor Beth Bailey; fee includes all art supplies, snacks and adult beverages; $35, must be prepaid to save space in class.
Pen and Ink Drawing: 5-6:30 p.m. Mondays, March 5, 12 and 19 (Session 2); age 16 through adult; learn to use drawing skills with a new medium that is affordable; learn to develop an image and being to add more texture lines to develop detailed areas of the drawings. Session 1 covers pen and ink and Session 2 adds color using watercolor or watercolor pencil; all levels of drawing skills welcome; all supplies provided, but may bring own drawing pad; instructor Beth Bailey; 1-8 students; $45 per session (three classes).
Pastel Discovery Class: 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, March 13, 20 and 27; ages 16 to adult; lean to use pastels to create three paintings with different subjects (animals, nature and landscapes); use different techniques to add texture, smoothness and layering; no experience necessary; all supplies provided, including canvas paper and tools; aprons provided to protect clothes; instructor Beth Bailey; $50 for all three classes.
