Loving mother and grandmother Ruth E. Gross, 96, of Longview was reunited with her beloved husband, John Nov. 28, 2017.
She was born July 6, 1921, in Roland, Okla., to William and Edith (Pyles) Dodson and attended Roland schools. Ruth married John W. Gross in 1942. They moved to the local area 70 years ago.
Ruth was employed at St. John’s Hospital as a laundry tech., when her children were in school. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Longview, and enjoyed gardening and needle work.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband John in 1987; two brothers, Jack and Vernon Athey; a sister, Lorraine Brooks; and a granddaughter, Shannon Rene.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanett DePriest of Sammamish, Wash.; two sons, Mick Gross of Seattle and Bill Gross of Longview; a sister, Lee Chaffin of Ventura, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jeff DePriest of Othello, Wash., and Jennifer Berens of Duvall, Wash.; and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Kendall and Kelsey Berens, all of Duvall.
A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Steele Chapel with the Rev. Larry Hardwick officiating. A viewing is planned from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband at Longview Memorial Park.
