Robert D. “Bob” Pate

Robert Daniel Pate, 64, of Castle Rock, passed away Feb. 5, 2018, at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, in Vancouver.
He was born April 9, 1953, in Great Falls, Mont., to Melton and Elsie (Pfeifle) Pate. Bob graduated from High School in Great Falls, and served in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Bob moved to Oregon in 1986, and to Castle Rock in 1989.
Bob worked for a Safeway in Montana for 18 years. After moving to the Northwest he worked for RSG Forest Products. Bob retired in 2009 as a shipping supervisor for Weyerhaeuser after 15 years of service to the company.
In his younger years, Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing. More recently he still enjoyed fishing, but took up shooting animals with a camera. Bob loved attending Seattle Mariners games, gambling, traveling (including cruises), and target shooting.
Bob had a friendly jovial personality and was always ready with a joke. He could carry on a conversation with anyone. Bob was out-going, loving, and willing to help those in need.
He was introduced to Tammy Johnson by mutual friends. They were married April 11, 1992, in Castle Rock.
Bob is survived by his wife, Tammy Pate at home; his father, Melton Pate of Great Falls; two children from a previous marriage, Jonathan Pate and Amber Raines, both of Independence, Ore.; a grandson, Benjamin Pate of Independence; a sister, Sheryl Shew (Doug) of Longview; and two nephews.
His mother, Elsie Pate preceded him in death.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Whittle Hubbard Cemetery in Castle Rock.
