Michael W. Peck
Michael Wayne Peck, 60, of Longview passed away tragically as the result of an accident at his home Sept. 7, 2017.
He was born May 30, 1957, in Wurzburg, Germany, to Ronald and Treva (Montgomery) Peck. The family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a child, settling in Washington. Mike served in the Navy in the early 1980s. He earned his GED and associate’s degree in waste water treatment from Lower Columbia College.
He married Kathy Boomer in Westport, Ore., Dec. 31, 1978. They later divorced, but remained good friends.
Mike worked in waste water management and as an account executive before retiring in 2010. He was an animal enthusiast and enjoyed building model airplanes and motorbikes. He loved traveling, especially his time spent in Hawaii and Ecuador, but his greatest joy was being a grandpa. Mike had a big heart and a friendly personality. He said “Hi” to anyone and everyone he encountered. Mike was outgoing and, according to family, “the handiest man ever.”
He is survived by a brother, Ronald M. Peck Jr., of Longview; a daughter, Michelle D. Peck of Longview; a son, Jason P. Boomer of Anacortes, Wash.; and six granddaughters.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth R. Peck.
A celebration of Mike’s life was held Tuesday.
