Larry Douglas Grant
Jan. 29, 1954 — Feb. 24, 2018
Larry D. Grant, 64, of Auburn, Wash., passed away Feb. 24, 2018, in Seattle.
Larry was a man of great character and integrity, whose legacy will live on in his family and all those he touched with his grace-filled spirit. As a reflection of his deep faith, Larry lived his life valuing others over himself. He had a great laugh with an infectious smile. His beautiful voice warmed the hearts of everyone who heard it. He is now singing in the bass section of God’s eternal choir.
He was born Jan. 29, 1954, in Longview, to Floyd and Bernice (Strom) Grant, graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1972 and attended Lower Columbia College. On Dec. 13, 1975, he married Vicky Melone. They moved to Vancouver in 1977, and to Federal Way in 1984.
Larry spent most of his career as a sale person in the consumer electronics industry. For the last eight years, until his retirement in February 2017, he worked in sales for Wilcox & Flegel Oil of Longview.
He enjoyed golf, tennis, shooting, and a good game of cribbage or movie. He was an avid reader. Larry and Vicky enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Europe, The Caribbean and the Washington D.C. area. Most recently he found great joy in the time spent with his two granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicky Grant at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea (Grant) and Tyler Berge of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Paul Grant of Auburn, Wash.; his granddaughters, Brynn Berge and Kinsley Berge, both of Alexandria; and a sister, Jane (Grant) Dahl of Canby, Ore. His parents preceded him in death.
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11 at the Longview Community Church, 2323 Washington Way, in Longview. Pastor Mary Ross will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Washington Heart Transplant Fund or the Lone Survivor Foundation.
