George K. Coulter

George Kiehl Coulter, 77, of Cathlamet passed away July 16, 2017, at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born July 10, 1940, in Alhambra, Calif., to George C. and Carol B. (Underhill) Coulter, and raised on Bunker Hill. George graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1958, and from Lower Columbia College.
George served in the Navy from 1962 to 1966. He retired as a Weyerhaeuser pipefitter in 1996. He also worked at decommissioning the Trojan power plant until it was shutdown. He spent his retirement years beekeeping, gardening, restoring old cars and helping his friends and family. He loved fishing with his friends, Rick Shaw, Ted Clark and Karl Johnson.
George was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy in 1971; a son, Aubrey Coulter in 2003; a brother, Bill Coulter; and an infant sister, Phyliss.
He married Betty Conway Jan. 28, 1972. George and Betty moved to Cathlamet in 1992. She survives him at home. Also surviving are his children, Christopher Coulter, Duane Coulter (Vickie), and Catherine Coulter-Johnson (Jeffry Hartshorn); two sisters, Carol Mahnke and Patti Senter; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private interment with Naval honors will take place at Bunker Hill Cemetery.
