David Dean Vossen of Kalama passed away at home Nov. 3, 2017.
He was born Jan. 16, 1944, to Frank and Delia Vossen in Park Rapids, Minn. David was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny and Dennis.
In 1964 he met and married Tawna Dyer of Kalama, where they made their home for the next 53 years. David is survived by his wife and their two sons, Dusty and Bill (Marissa); six grandchildren, Tanner (Megan), Natalie, Jeff (Courtney), Jordan, Taylor, and A.J.; and two great-grandchildren, Payton and Luke.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He lived his life on his own terms. David retired as a superintendent for Baugh Industrial Contractors after 35 years. He loved to talk and tell stories about work, hunting, or just gossip with his coffee drinking buddies. He loved to talk politics and get people riled up. David was a farmer at heart who loved haying, hunting, fishing, and riding horses. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. From every Kalama sporting event to every birthday, he was always there for the people he loved. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of David’s life is planned for 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at Rose Valley Friends Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Kalama Sports or the Kalama Fire Department.
