Lower Columbia CAP will receive nearly $880,000 in federal stimulus funds to help low-income people weatherize homes, the agency announced Tuesday.

The funds also will pay for energy-efficiency education, according to the agency. CAP will hire two home inspectors and two office staffers with the funds.

CAP hopes to weatherize 268 unit by March 31, 2011, said Sheila Girt, director of the agency’s energy and housing department.

With the stimulus package boost, the agency will have weatherization budget of $1.2 million.
