Rainn Wilson, who plays quirky "assistant manager" Dwight Schrute on NBC's hit sitcom "The Office," will do a benefit comedy show as a fundraiser for Longview Stageworks here next month.

Wilson will appear at 8 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Kelso Theatre Pub, 214 S. Pacific Ave. Tickets for the show cost $50

Wilson will also be guest of honor at a get-acquainted gathering at 6:30 p.m. that day at the Back Stage Café, next door to the Theater Pub. Tickets for the separate get-acquainted gathering are also $50.

The events are a benefit for Stageworks, the local theater company that blends casts of professional actors and directors and local amateurs.

Wilson is the stepson-in-law of Judge Ed Putka, who is the board chairman of Stageworks.

Wilson, who has twice won the Screen Actors Guild Award and has been nominated for an Emmy, was born and raised in Seattle and Shoreline. He studied theater at Tufts University and the University of Washington before earning a master of fine arts from New York University. His rise to stardom began as a member of The Acting Company.

Wilson is celebrated for his roles as Schrute on "The Office" and the also-quirky assistant mortician Arthur Martin on HBO's "Six Feet Under," as well as his critically acclaimed hosting of "Saturday Night Live" earlier this year and also has appeared in several movies.

Wilson played Luke Wilson's best friend and unlikely romantic advisor in Ivan Reitman's "My Super Ex-Girlfriend." Rainn Wilson had a leading role in "The Last Mimzy," released last spring. This summer, Wilson was in Toronto to film his next starring role in the comedy "The Rocker" with Christina Applegate, Emma Stone, Teddy Geiger and Jason Sudeikis. The Rocker is the story of musician Robert "Fish" Fishman (played by Wilson) who is fired from a fictional 1980s rock band just before it becomes famous.

Tickets can be purchased through the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts box office at 423-1011 or (888) 575-8499, or on-line at www.columbiatheatre.com. Tickets are also available at the Backstage Café.
