Longtime Longview resident Maxine Elizabeth Branch, 91, died Dec. 19, 2011.
She was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Cottonwood, Idaho, to Fredrick and Rena (Singleton) Ledford. The family moved to Longview when Maxine was 10 years old and she graduated from R.A. Long High School.
Maxine worked in the planer mill and warehouse at Weyerhaeuser. She retired in 1982. Maxine attended the First Baptist Church in Longview and enjoyed going to swim meets and stock car races to watch her sons compete. She and her husband, Paul enjoyed working with stones in the art of lapidary. Maxine was outgoing, friendly and liked to be around people.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a son, Larry Wallingford; three brothers, Porter, Fred and George Ledford; a sister, Margie Jones; a granddaughter, Tammy Brown; a great-granddaughter, Shantina Smiley; and a great-great-grandson, Azriel Carver.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Donna Wallingford of Yuma, Ariz., and Tony and Denice Skreslet of Elk Grove, Calif.; a sister, Jeanine Clark of Roseburg, Ore.; a grandson, John Wallingford Jr., of Longview; and three granddaughters, Ericka Skreslet of Elk Grove, and Diane Wallingford and Teri Skinner, both of Longview.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. today at Longview First Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin White officiating.
